Transition Center
The Kailua Intermediate School Mark Takai Transition Center (TC) provides new students to KIS an inviting and inclusive environment to connect with other students, learn about the culture of the Aloha State, and enjoy friendship-building activities. Students can hang out in the Transition Center in the morning, and during recess and lunch (after you eat).
MFLC
A full-time Military Family Life Consultant (MFLC) is housed at Kailua Intermediate.
MFLCs provide anonymous and confidential assistance to students and their families to help address issues resulting from deployment, reunions, reintegration, and other times of change.
Consultants are licensed clinicians with a Master's Degree and at least five years of experience in social work, counseling, or a related clinical discipline. Consultants are trained on military specific topics regarding the deployment cycle and military culture.
There is a form that needs to be filled out by the parent or guardian in order to give permission for your child to access this service. You may also use the form to let the consultant know that you do not want your child to receive services.
