Water Conservation Week
Poetry Contest Winners

Congratulations to Kortana W, Malachi N. C, Genesis L, Leila B, and Madeleine E for their recognition by the City and County of Honolulu’s Board of Water Supply for their winning poems!  This year’s theme was “Our Water, Our Home”.  The awards ceremony was held May 8th at Neil S. Blaisdell Center.  Our school community congratulates them on their outstanding achievement!  Thank you to all of our fine scholars who participated and reflected upon the importance of protecting and managing our island’s wai (fresh water).

Poster Contest
Honorable Mention Winner!

Mahalo to all who participated and congratulations to Cameryn H for her entry in this year’s Sew a Lei for Memorial Day Poster Contest!  The poster contest is sponsored annually by the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).

Cameryn’s poster is an Honorable Mention winner in the fifth through eighth grade division.

Cyber Patriots

KIS's cyber patriots team  competed in the 2024 Cyber 'Ike Capture the Flag Competition on Saturday, May 4th. They competed against 19 high schools and came in 7th place! The KIS Cyber Patriots members are Colin N, Reid U, Mason S, and Colin T. Mr. Lee is their teacher rep and Mr. Kent is the club leader.  Way to go guys! 

Olelo Video Contest

Broadcast class students Emma W, Chloe G, Kelsey H, Juliet C and Natalie S were finalists in ‘Ōlelo Community Media's 2024 Youth XChange video awards!  The ‘Ōlelo video awards are Hawaiʿi’s largest statewide student video competition, so the competition is tough!  They got to attend an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  

Eddie Would Go

Congratulations to KIS students Mila E, Johanna S, Malachi C, Christina K, and Emmalynn N for their recognition by the Eddie Aikau Foundation organization for their winning Eddie Would Go essays!  We congratulate them on their outstanding achievement.  Kailua Intermediate School swept this year’s 7th grade awards! Mahalo to all who participated in this year’s contest and to our awesome school community for their support!

Pi Day 2024

KIS held an exploratory day on March 14th (3.14). Organized by the Math department in honor of "Pi day" students were treated to a day full of activities including games, crafts, of course pie eating, and more. Broadcast students and their teacher captured photos and video clips to create this video.
